God laughs

God laughs

Why do the nations plan evil together? Why do they make useless plans? The kings of the earth take their stand against the Lord. The rulers of the earth gather together against his anointed king. “Let us break free from their chains,” they say.”Let us throw off their ropes.”The One who sits on his throne in heaven laughs. The Lord makes fun of those rulers and their plans. When he is angry, he warns them. When his anger blazes out, he terrifies them.He says to them,’I have placed my king on my holy mountain of Zion.‘ ”

God laughed at those who opposed His decision of sending Jesus as the Messiah. This way of saving humanity was not a joke. The pharisees, Jews, kings and rulers joined forces together to oppose Jesus. They insulted Him, threatened Him and crucified Him. They thought that they did something good for the Jewish nation by crucifying this “blasphemer” (Mat 26:65, Luke 5:21). Yea this Jesus claimed to be God and it was their duty to join forces to exterminate Him. But the One who sits on the throne in heaven laughed at them! These rulers did not understand God’s ways of working. God works in ways that man cannot understand. It does not make sense to man. This son of carpenter is the Messiah? Come on, a prophet cannot come from Galilee they said (John 7:52). Yet this man died, rose from the dead and is sitting on God’s throne!

I am the Lord. I am the God of all people. Is anything too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27
Is there anything not surprising from the Lord says the french version.

This is what Paul said:

The message of the cross seems foolish to those who are lost and dying. But it is God’s power to us who are being saved. It is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of those who are wise.I will do away with the cleverness of those who think they are so smart.” —(Isaiah 29:14)
Where is the wise person? Where is the educated person? Where are the great thinkers of this world? Hasn’t God made the wisdom of the world foolish? God wisely planned that the world would not know him through its own wisdom. It pleased God to use the foolish things we preach to save those who believe.Jews require miraculous signs. Greeks look for wisdom. But we preach about Christ and his death on the cross. That is very hard for Jews to accept. And everyone else thinks it’s foolish. But there are those God has chosen, both Jews and others. To them Christ is God’s power and God’s wisdom. The foolish things of God are wiser than human wisdom. The weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
” 1 Corinthians 1:18-25

So the world can be saved only through the death of God’s Son, the Messiah, huh? Stop kidding, it does not make sense dude! This was what the religious Jews and the intelligent Greek philosophers were probably saying. It appeared to be a foolish way of saving sinners but it was God’s way of working.

God does great things that we cannot understand (Job 37:5).

This is what God told to Job in his sufferings:

Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm. He said: “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?Brace yourself like a man; I will question you,and you shall answer me. “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand…” Job 38

God was not joking when He kicked Lucifer to hell. God was not joking when He told Adam that he would die if he ate the defended fruit. God was not joking when He crushed His Son on the cross for sinners sake. He is still not joking when He says that all sinners are going to hell. Jesus was not joking when He said that only Him can reconcile man to God and that He’ll return to judge the creation. Yes God laughed at those who opposed Him but the words of His mouth are no jokes.

  1. tough post but all true and all correct. Makes me worry for those I love who don’t know God and refuse to acknowledge him. Intellect is high and I feel flummoxed when trying to give an answer. Why does God veil things so that they cannot clearly see? And yet, the earth itself and all creation yells that there is a God. Big Bang theory just doesn’t cut it. As God says in his word, there is no excuse.

  2. Many people do not follow Jesus because :

    1) Christians are ashamed of sharing this Gospel. I can understand that preaching about a crucified Messiah is not an heroic story and that there’re reasons to be ashamed of that. But this crucified Messiah also rose from the dead and it is a proud and heroic story to tell. So why are Jesus’ followers ashamed? Paul said that he is not ashamed of the Gospel (Romans 1:16) because he knows in whom he has believed. So how will people hear the gospel if there’s no one to preach (Rom 10:14).

    2) Because the Gospel does not make sense to them. They are like these religious Jews and Greek philosophers.

    3) Because they fear that their evil deeds will be exposed if they come to light (John 3:20).

“If you love people, you’ll evangelise. One cannot be effective in evangelism if he does not love people.
Evangelism => Love for people. Love for people => Evangelism “

  3. Your words are hard-hitting but that is because there is truth in them. I struggle with sharing the gospel. I am a people-pleaser. I should be a God pleaser. It’s something I am trying to change in my life. I believe that God’s word can change me. This year I will spend time in God’s word, letting it change me so I am bold to evangelise. I will also be asking God to give me love for people as I actually am not a huge fan of humanity generally.
Thank you Cedric for being so straightforward and not letting fripperies confuse matters. God’s word says it all clearly. We need to fall in line with it, not try to make it conform with the world’s view of things.

  4. I struggle a lot to talk about my faith with people I don’t know. For many Christians, evangelism is a burden and embarrassing. They feel guilty if they don’t evangelise or simply don’t care about evangelising. The main issue in evangelism is love. It’s because we love people that we evangelise. I think that this is the reason why the apostles were ready to die for this gospel.
