Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself” 1 Cor. 6:19

  • The Scripture is inspired by the Spirit

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Spirit does not contradict the scripture and the scripture does not contradict what the Spirit says since the scripture is inspired by Him. The prophesies made through Isaiah or David have meticulously been fulfilled because these men wrote inspired by the Spirit (Acts 1:16).  When we fail to understand the Scripture, the first step is to ask the Author (The Holy Spirit) what He intended. I would like to emphasize of that first step since many Christians turn to books or commentaries to understand the scripture. Don’t they know that the Spirit of God lives in them?

When you read the scripture, ensure that you’re not just reading letters and phrases. Many Christians were defeated, confused or took wrong decisions because they misinterpreted the Word of God. On the other hand, I met Christians who have mistaken their feelings, circumstances, dreams or emotions as being a call from the Spirit but if they read God’s Word they would have been spared of much trouble.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you meditate and get the most of the scripture and when you have receive clear instructions and directives from Him, go ahead keeping faith in what God’s Word said – do not turn back. Otherwise, do not go ahead unless there’s harmony with what you’ve read and what you feel the Spirit is calling you to do.

I would like to call on this promise of Jesus:

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26

I have nothing against commentaries, I have myself quite a few of them and use them but it’s important of not letting ourselves influenced or consider as truth what the commentary said.

Many theologians interpreted the scripture in opposing directions and I wondered how such a thing is possible since the Spirit had only one intended meaning.   For instance Calvinism has an opposing doctrine – Arminianism. Churches exist that have as core belief these 2 doctrines. These doctrines entirely contradict each other and at the same time claim to have scriptural evidence to support their say.  There can be only 2 possibilities:

  1. Both are wrong
  2. One is diabolical and the other right

It is not possible that both are right or have a mixture of each other as this would make the Spirit contradict itself. The Spirit intended ONLY ONE teaching and it is essential to ask the divine Teacher sent by Jesus to guide us into the whole truth.

I came to the conclusion that many doctrines have been formulated and Christians books written without communicating what the Spirit actually intended to say in the bible. Doctrines are written as laws voted in parliament and Christians books are written as the best seller Harry Potter. Many false doctrines, what we call heresies, have no ounce of inspiration from the Spirit.  These heresies have intellectuals (false teachers) who formulated them and it would be useful for the adherents to question whether the author of that doctrine lived as someone filled by the Spirit and demonstrated the fruit of the Spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts as He wants

All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” 1 Cor. 12:11

Paul wrote this chapter 12 of Corinthians for this reason:

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed

Paul inspired by the Spirit wanted to inform the ignorant about the Spiritual gifts and also correct those who thought they got it right.

Whether you’re from a Charismatic/Pentecostal, Baptist/Evangelical/other background, there’re much to learn from this chapter. Unfortunately, it is a sad truth that churches disagree on its fundamentals. On one hand there’s much abuse or fake manifestations and on the other side there’s a quenching of the Spirit. In either case, Satan wins since the Spirit is unable to work as He intends.

I would like to reiterate the above conclusions:

There can be only 2 possibilities:

  1. Both are wrong
  2. One is diabolical and the other right

It is not possible that both are right or have a mixture of each other as this would make the Spirit contradict itself. The Spirit intended ONLY ONE teaching and it is essential to ask the divine Teacher sent by Jesus to guide us into the whole truth.

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? If you realize that you’re the temple of the Spirit, how much do you let the Spirit influence you ?
